Abstract:

A freight forwarder is a firm or individual responsible for arranging shipments and assisting in moving products from manufacturers or producers to the market or the final distribution point. As a third-party logistics provider, a forwarder enters into agreements with asset-based carriers to haul goods that range from raw agricultural products to manufactured goods. Though a forwarder is not generally a carrier, it is specialized in supply chain management. In simple terms, freight forwarders are the “travel agents” for the cargo industry. This project aims to research the issues confronting freight forwarders in Freighterix Cargo Solutions’ import and export operations. Challenges confronting the freight forwarders while interacting with the carriers, companies, and customers were considered for analysis. The population was more than 300 and was selected with a sample size of 278 using convenience sampling. Statistical tools such as Chi-Square, Correlation, and ANOVA, along with graphical tools in the form of bar and pie charts, are employed for data analysis. Issues confronted by freight forwarders and a comparative study to present their improvement solution are carried out. This would help Freighterix Cargo Solutions address the operation challenges, consolidating and smoothening the business flow.
