Abstract:

School libraries have evolved beyond their traditional role as mere information repositories. In today’s knowledge-driven economy, they serve as dynamic centres for fostering student entrepreneurship. This study explores how Nigerian school libraries can contribute to developing entrepreneurial mindsets and skills, equipping students with the competencies needed to thrive in an innovation-driven society. School libraries can inspire creativity, problem-solving, and critical thinking by providing access to diverse resources, mentorship opportunities, and digital learning platforms, which are key traits of successful entrepreneurs. This paper highlights the unique role of libraries in supporting entrepreneurial education, emphasizing their potential as hubs for self-directed learning and skill development. This study offers a framework for transforming these spaces into entrepreneurial incubators by reviewing relevant literature on entrepreneurship, information access, and the educational function of libraries. The findings suggest that school libraries can enhance entrepreneurial education by integrating technology, organizing workshops, and fostering collaboration with industry professionals. Recommendations include curriculum-aligned entrepreneurial programs, hands-on projects, and partnerships with local businesses. By leveraging their resources effectively, school libraries in Nigeria can become catalysts for innovation, nurturing the next generation of business leaders and problem solvers.
